Hypothyroid Diet - Know Which Foods Boost Thyroid Function And Which Ones Harm

Hypothyroidism results in a sluggish metabolism for most. That means even though you eat well your may find you gain weight, or find it difficult to lose excess weight. For this reason, the appropriate diet plays an important role in healing. While diet alone may not cure hypothyroidism, it can certainly help balance thyroid hormones and reverse many of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. There are many foods that can contribute to illness, as much as food can contribute to healing of the thyroid gland.

It is important that you distinguish between healthy foods and foods that damage your thyroid gland when attempting to heal your body using a specific hypothyroidism diet.

Hypothyroid Diet - Know Which Foods Boost Thyroid Function And Which Ones Harm

It is also important you consult with a doctor or medical provider if you are pregnant or have any serious health condition in addition to hypothyroid disease before starting any type of diet. They may recommend modifications or additions to your program. This diet may not be ideal for everyone.

Foods That Boost Thyroid Function...

Typically whole grains and other natural foods including fruits, vegetables, and other high fiber foods are beneficial for individuals with hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism often results in constipation, therefore the extra fiber in these foods helps regulate the bowels and stimulates more frequent and regular bowel movements.

Fiber also helps improve feelings of fullness and helps to encourage weight loss. Many vitamins and key nutrients are also available in whole grains. Some individuals find supplementing with selenium helpful if they suffer from hypothyroidism because this trace mineral may be deficient or missing in their diet. This mineral helps the body convert thyroid hormone T4 into T3. One good source of this mineral includes Brazil nuts.

Other tactics for improving metabolism for people with hypothyroidism include eating several small meals during the day instead of sitting down to three larger meals. This keeps the metabolism boosted throughout the day, which can help with feelings of fullness and stimulate weight loss.

Some people find that this may also help balance insulin reactions and limit the crashes people often associate with eating too much refined sugar following a meal. If you eat too many refined foods including pasta, bread and sugar you may feel very tired or moody shortly after eating these foods, due to a dramatic increase and then quick drop in blood sugar.

Eating lean sources of protein can also help promote weight loss and stimulate the metabolism for people with a sluggish metabolism. Protein can help stimulate muscle growth in individuals who exercise along with eating well.

Foods That Harm...

While most vegetables and fruits are beneficial, there are some that can actually slow down or inhibit thyroid function. These include:

  • Bok Choy
  • Broccoli
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower
  • Mustard greens
  • Radishes
  • Spinach
  • Turnips

Why? These foods actually contain substances known as goitrogens which interfere with the ability of the body to produce thyroid hormone. Because of this the thyroid may enlarge. Soybean foods may also inhibit the function of the thyroid as well. The foods listed above can also increase one's chances of developing a condition known as goiter.

If you have relatively normal thyroid function you can probably eat these foods, just try not to eat them in excess. Also, most of the research suggests that these foods are dangerous when eaten raw, and not necessarily cooked. So, if you cook your broccoli and eat it on occasion, the odds are you can still get away with it.

Some people with hypothyroid disease find they are wheat or gluten intolerant. In this case the best hypothyroid diet may be similar to a diet for celiac disease, where the elimination of wheat and gluten products from the diet results in dramatic healing.

As you can see diet has a major impact not only on general health but on helping to balance thyroid hormones. If you are diagnosed with hypothyroidism it is important to seek help from your healthcare professional, but remember that simple natural changes such as dietary alterations can go a long way in regard to healing.

Apple Diet - It Works For Weight Loss, But Beware of 1 Version Of This Diet

Ever hear of the apple diet? It's a popular weight loss diet that has numerous versions and spin-offs. A lot of these versions are healthy and work for weight loss, however 1 version you must absolutely avoid.

First, why the apple diet works...

Diet

A big reason on why the apple diet works has to do with the high water content and high amount of fiber in each apple. The high water content allows you to "eat water" basically. The foods you mostly "eat water" with are generally low in calories, but very filling. For example, a 300-calorie candy bar won't fill you up, but 300-calories worth of apples will.

Apple Diet - It Works For Weight Loss, But Beware of 1 Version Of This Diet

Another reason why the apple diet works is because each apple has 5 grams of fiber in it. It has both soluble and insoluble fiber. Having a high fiber intake is a big part of successful long term weight loss programs.

The average American only gets about 12 grams of fiber each day. It's recommended that you get 25 grams of fiber each day. I, however, advocate getting 35-50 grams of fiber each day for easy long term weight loss.

There are 2 rules to the apple diet...

Rule #1: Eat 1 apple before each meal

This is the main rule. Very simple, huh?

Just eat 1 apple before each of 3 meals. Nothing more. I won't even tell you to stop eating your favorite foods. Obviously, if you eat a little bit more healthy, you'll increase the speed in which you lose weight... but I won't force you to eat healthier.

Rule #2: Don't forget rule #1

Seriously, there is just 1 rule to the apple diet. However I want to add that I've found that my clients who have tried the apple diet get better results simply by following rule #1 and eating healthy snacks.

That's all you need to change in your diet... eat an apple before each of 3 meals... and eat healthy snacks. You can continue to eat more unhealthy type of foods for your meals. Just don't eat unhealthy snacks!

So, if you want an easy weight loss plan that isn't complicated and doesn't require much thinking on your part, try the apple diet.

The Hypothyroid Diet

What is The Hypothyroid Diet, how is it different, and will it work for you?

The Hypothyroid Diet is a simple step-by-step program designed to help jumpstart your thyroid so you can lose weight, beat fatigue, and feel normal again. This diet is not a low calorie diet, and you don't have to keep track of every calorie you put into your mouth. It's not a low fat diet, and it's not a high protein diet, and there's no counting of points or weighing of foods. The Hypothyroid Diet helps you detoxify your body from harmful substances that may be blocking thyroid hormone production. It shows you what foods you need to eat, so you can feed your thyroid the nutrients it needs in order to thrive. It helps you eliminate food allergies/sensitivities and it will show you how to stabilize your blood sugar. Within The Hypothyroid Diet is a system, and I call this system the DES system, which stands for Detoxification, Elimination, and Stabilization.

\"Hypothyroid Diet\"

Here's how it works...

The Hypothyroid Diet

Every day, harmful chemicals get into your body that you're unaware of. These chemicals look just like the minerals your thyroid needs to make thyroid hormone. However, if you are low on the minerals your body needs to produce thyroid hormone, which most Americans are, your body will try to use these harmful chemicals instead, because they look just like the minerals it needs. The result is your body will be unable to make thyroid hormone. This program will help you identify and eliminate the nasty chemicals your body doesn't need, and it will show you which minerals you do need to make thyroid hormone.

The second part of this system helps you eliminate food sensitivities. This is important because most people have food sensitivities and don't even know it. And if you have food sensitivities, your immune system will be working overtime, because your body thinks there's a foreign invader inside and it will be constantly trying to fight it. The result can be symptoms similar to hypothyroidism: fatigue, weight gain, insomnia, constipation, aches/pains, etc. Plus, when some of these foods get digested and sneak into your blood stream, they resemble thyroid tissue. So, your body will inadvertently attack your thyroid.

The last part of The Hypothyroid Diet helps you stabilize your blood sugar. If you can stabilize your blood sugar, you can eliminate cravings, reduce body fat, and have abundant energy throughout the day. This program is different from any other diet because it focuses on jumpstarting your thyroid - the gland that is responsible for your metabolism. Some diets may focus on Detoxification, Eliminating food allergies, or Stabilizing blood sugar, but no program addresses all three. That's why it works so well. This program is very safe and will work for anyone who has a thyroid problem. In fact, it will help anyone who has an autoimmune disorder, food allergies, or if they just want to lose weight. The beauty of the program is that it works fast.

Another reason why the Hypothyroid Diet works so well is it helps the immune system work more efficiently. If you have hypothyroidism, there's a great chance that you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is the number one cause of hypothyroidism in the U.S. Hahsimoto's is an immune system problem. And if you don't help your immune system, you will always struggle with hypothyroidism. There's nothing that affects your body more than the food you eat and the liquids you drink 10-12 times a day. Learn what you need to eat and drink and what you need to avoid so you can jumpstart your thyroid, lose weight, beat fatigue, and feel normal again.

If you have hypothyroidism, I urge you to try The Hypothyroid Diet.

Warm regards,

Dr. Kevin

Hypothyroid Treatment - Medical Treatments for Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. This can occur for various reasons. Treatment may depend on various factors including the patient's health history, the severity of their condition, and the type of medical practitioner they seek for care.

Many practitioners rely on synthetic hormones to treat hypothyroid disease, but this may not always be the best course of action. It is important you educate yourself about hypothyroidism so you can make the best decision when it comes to caring for your body and treating your condition.

Hypothyroid

Let's learn a little more about standard care of hypothyroidism so you can make an informed decision along with the advice of your qualified healthcare professional.

Hypothyroid Treatment - Medical Treatments for Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroid Disease Treatment Protocols

Treatment for an underactive thyroid will vary from patient to patient depending on the severity of their disease and their treatment provider. For many, treatment will involve use of daily thyroid replacement hormones, whether synthetic or natural. This will require regular or routine monitoring by a healthcare provider to monitor thyroid function and assess the correct dosage.

Typically treatment with a hormone results in a quick improvement. If someone has their thyroid gland removed or partially removed they will probably require treatment with a synthetic hormone for the rest of their life. Hypothyroid caused by Hashimoto's thyroiditis, a more serious autoimmune condition, may also require a lifetime treatment protocol.

Some patients who have hypothyroid disease develop it as a result of a recent illness. In cases like this treatment may be needed for a short period of time. After the illness subsides, a patient may recover and no longer require treatment.

Sometimes pharmaceutical medicine causes a patient to develop hypothyroid disease. In cases like this treatment may simply involve discontinuation of the offending medication or a switch to a new medication. As long as the medication has not caused permanent damage to the thyroid gland, the odds are the patient will recover and can resume a normal lifestyle.

Sometimes a patient has sub-clinical hypothyroid. This is a mild case of hypothyroid disease. There are times when doctors or healthcare providers prefer to monitor cases like this instead of prescribing medication. Other times healthcare providers may recommend treating hypothyroidism immediately, depending on how severely the patient is affected.

You and your doctor, or healthcare provider should discuss your treatment options in cases like this, including the risks associated with treating hypothyroidism with synthetic or natural hormones, compared to a watch and wait approach. Patients taking hypothyroid hormones must watch for side effects which may include heart disease, chest pain or irregular heart rate.

Hormones available to treat patients include:

- Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Levoxyl, Levothroid)
- Natural Hormones

Taking too little medicine may result in little effect or improvement and can result in a return of symptoms or recurring weight gain. Taking too much hormone may result in increasing side effects including the jitters or tremors, or insomnia. It is critical that as a patient you take notes of all side effects you experience while taking hormones so your doctor can adjust your dose of your medication accordingly.

Remember that diet and lifestyle are just as much a part of your treatment protocol as hormone or medication therapy. Talk with your healthcare provider about lifestyle changes as well as medication when you begin treating hypothyroid disease. That way you will manage your disease as wholly as possible to ensure the best possible odds for successful management of your disease.

Severe Hypothyroidism

In some cases hypothyroidism goes undiagnosed for excessive periods of time as many people avoid going to the doctor when they feel unwell. In cases of severe debilitation, some patients may need life saving treatment. Severe hypothyroidism when left untreated may place a patient at risk for what is known as a myxedema coma. This requires emergency medical care and treatment with intravenous thyroid hormone.

Symptoms may include a heart attack or trouble breathing, and hypothermia or severe problems maintaining one's body temperature. If you or someone you know experiences any of these symptoms it is critical you seek emergency medical care as soon as possible.

Treatment of Hypothyroidism During Pregnancy

Some women develop hypothyroidism during pregnancy. During this time treatment is essential to ensure the wellness of both mother and fetus. Thyroid levels of women during pregnancy will be carefully monitored in women that have hypothyroidism to ensure adequate treatment. Some women will require treatment before, during, and after pregnancy if they have hypothyroidism before pregnancy.

Others may develop hypothyroid disease during pregnancy and may begin treatment during pregnancy, and may or may not require hormone replacement therapy following delivery.

Remember, treating hypothyroidism is a life saving matter, so go to your healthcare provider immediately and take a simple blood test...it can be a matter of life or death!

Once you have the facts about your illness you can then make an informed decision regarding your course of action. If you do not wish to take pharmaceutical medication you can access the wide variety of natural therapies available to help balance your thyroid hormones, and can stay healthy with appropriate dietary and lifestyle decisions.

Hypothyroidism Diets - What to Avoid and What to Eat

It is essential to understand that hypothyroidism is a hormonal disorder, and generally, any step you take for treatment should yield results, provided the measures taken are right. Good hypothyroidism diets are one of the most important components in your effort to curb this hormonal disorder.

Your body is different from that of everyone else and reacts differently to different foods. As such, you must consult your doctor on what constitutes a good diet in hypothyroidism for you. Broadly speaking, there are a quite a few guidelines that are considered safe and effective for those suffering from hypothyroidism. Here's how you should prepare a general plan for hypothyroidism foods:

\"Hypothyroid Diet\"

Know what to avoid first

Hypothyroidism Diets - What to Avoid and What to Eat

In a disorder as serious as hypothyroidism, it is prudent to first know what to avoid than to know what to eat since it always pay to adopt a 'safety first' approach. Good hypothyroidism foods are those that will not escalate the disorder and will complement the medications. Listed below are foods you must avoid:

• An excessive intake of dietary fiber is known to be bad for hypothyroidism since they contribute to a low release of hormones. Thus, if you are on medication for increasing hormone levels in your body, you must keep your intake of dietary fiber to the minimum.

• You should also avoid foods such as walnuts, soybean flour, multivitamins that contain iron, iron supplements, supplements that increase calcium content in the body, antacids that contain magnesium or aluminum, medications for ulcers, and drugs that can lower your cholesterol levels. If you must eat some or all of the foods discussed in this article, maintain a substantial gap between the intake of hormone medication and such foods. It is very important to avoid interactions between these medicines and foods.

• Soy is something you would do well to avoid as much as you can. However, this is easier said than done because of the presence of soy in just about every food you eat. You can consult a nutritionist and prepare a list of foods that have minimal soy content.

• Depending on how much iodine you consume with your daily foods, you can either increase the hormone levels or decrease the hormone levels further. Good hypothyroidism diets will enable you to have only as much iodine as is necessary to remain healthy. Again, your doctor will give you useful guidance on which foods can help balance your iodine levels.

Know what to eat

• Depending on your doctor's advice, you may eat foods that have a good amount of minerals.

• Consume lots of fruits and vegetables.

• Eat a lot of lean protein.

• Selenium is one of the most important hypothyroidism foods because it helps release the hormones in your body and converts the T4 into its active variant known as T3. Brazil nuts are a powerful source of selenium and are generally safe for consumption.

No matter what you eat, you must sincerely keep taking the medicines prescribed by your doctor. A good diet in hypothyroidism must not advocate skipping your medication for hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism diets complement the medicines you take to improve the hormone levels in your body. However, make sure you consult your doctor before you get started with any diet plan.

3 Day Tuna Fish Diet Review

Well like most people I had put a little weight on over the winter and decided to try and take a bit off. I only needed to lose about 10 pounds or so to get to my normal weight so as silly as it seemed I decided to give the 3 day tuna fish diet a try. I figured it was quick and not to complicated so no harm done if it didn't work. So off I went to the grocery store with my shopping list.

For those who have never heard of this diet, basically it involves eating tuna every day at one meal and your suppose to be able to lose about 10 pounds which was right in my sweet spot. You can find several variations of it online, you may have even had it sent to you via email spam. I must say I did modify it a bit and ate tuna every day at lunch even though on day 3 I was suppose to eat it a dinner, but other than that I ate what the diet told me to. I am sure this had no drastic effect on my results.

Diet

My first day of the 3 day tuna fish diet was very easy as it hardly seemed like a diet at all. Not sure what this says about my normal eating habits. On the second day I did become a little hungry though as it felt like I had missed a meal some where. By the third day though I was hungry and very sick of tuna, I was not bothered by it to much as I knew it was pretty much going to be over soon.

3 Day Tuna Fish Diet Review

The Results

I had checked my weight on the morning I began the 3 day tuna fish diet before breakfast so I waited till the morning of day 4 before breakfast to check the results. As I stepped on the scale with my stomach growling in anticipation I was expecting great things, well net result was I lost 2.5 pounds. That is probably the same as I would of lost if I had just restricted my diet a little over the 3 day period. It wasn't that difficult to stick to but don't really think the results are more than you get with just healthy eating. In the past the Dean Ornish diet is the diet I have had the most success with but it is very hard to stick to.

Low Carb Diet Side Effects

Many people curious about starting a low carb diet wonder if there are side effects they need to be aware of before getting started. Many also wonder if there are harmful low carb diet side effects too, so let's look at the most common side effects of low carb dieting, and talk about whether any of these are harmful.

Some of these low carb diet side effects can be problematic for people with health conditions, particularly if they're taking medications for those conditions. Often the side effects are good, but you need to be aware they can happen and talk to your medical care provider because they'll need to monitor your progress and possibly change, reduce, or eliminate medications as you progress.

Diet

For instance, a very common low carb diet side effect is lowered, or more even blood sugar levels. This is an important low carb diet side effect for any diabetic, particularly ones that take insulin shots or medication. Since low carb diets can drastically reduce your blood sugar levels naturally, your doctor may need to adjust your medication levels to compensate for those changes.

Low Carb Diet Side Effects

Another low carb diet side effect is of course losing a lot of weight. This by itself is not technically a side effect, but related effects of losing weight can include regulation of blood pressure, easing or disappearance of digestive tract problems, and resolution of breathing problems too.

If you're taking high blood pressure medication, then the side effect of having that lowered from eating a low carb diet will need to be addressed by your doctor or medical care specialist. The same applies for digestive troubles, if you experience resolution to those problems as a low carb dieting side effect, your doctor will need to adjust or eliminate the medications you take.

Now if you don't take medications for conditions such as those listed above, you may still experience low carb diet side effects, but they're likely to be ones you're happy to have.

Common, "good" low carb diet side effects include reduced cravings for sugars and starches; increased energy; reduced bloated and gassy, upset stomach feelings; improved bowel movements; regulated blood sugar levels and blood pressure levels; loss of excess water retention; and of course, loss of excess body fat.

There are some low carb diet side effects that are not harmful, but you need to be aware of them because they are uncomfortable at best. These low carb diet side effects are more common during the first one to five days on the diet, and are side effects of your body adjusting to your eating changes. These side effects can include headaches; nausea; dizziness; lethargy or low energy; severe sugar cravings; irritability; and constipation.

There are also a couple of women specific low carb diet side effects. In the first week or two of your new low carb diet, you may experience oddities with your monthly menstrual flow. Usually this side effect lasts a short time though, and is caused by your body adjusting to the new eating lifestyle you've chosen. A great low carb diet side effect comes later: Women's menstrual flow is usually reduced, and there is generally much less pain or other problems involved while you're on a low carb diet.

Many of those early low carb diet side effects can be reduced by drinking extra water and getting plenty of rest, plus making sure you don't go hungry. In rare cases these initial low carb diet side effects can last as long as ten days, but usually they're present from approximately the third to the fifth day of your low carb diet.

Quinoa Diet - How Does it Make You Lose Weight?

The quinoa diet is getting more and more popular not only for vegetarians but for people who wanted to lose weight as well. I'm currently trying to shed off pounds and I was doing my research and I came across with quinoa and I'm really amazed with what I found. It is a staple among Incans and they eat it to regain stamina and strength. Vegetarians love it too because quinoa is packed with high-quality protein that you do not get from soy and beans. It's one of the few foods that can provide "complete" protein.

The quinoa diet is great because unlike any other fad diets we have around, it will not starve you to death and you can be assured that you are getting the right amount of nutrients for every serving. If you want to lose weight, you do not have to necessarily eat the so-called "diet foods" because once you go back to eating regular food, you'll start gaining again. What you need is consistency.

Diet

With the quinoa diet, you can prepare it with pretty much anything you want. You can either make it as the main course or a side dish. When you cook quinoa, it is given that you prepare it with other healthy foods. I'm sure you can't afford to cook quinoa with deep fried chicken or dump cups of mozzarella cheese on it. You always mix it with lean meat, vegetables or fruits.

Quinoa Diet - How Does it Make You Lose Weight?

What I love about quinoa is the way it fills me up. I don't get hungry as often unlike when I was still eating white rice. The seeds take a long time for your system to digest and because of its slow-releasing carbohydrate content, you stay full for a longer period of time.

Did I say carbohydrates? Yes I did! No you don't have to be scared of carbohydrates because what quinoa contains is good carbs. You have more energy but at the same time, your cravings for sugary foods will be less. It reduces the hunger pangs that you always have to struggle with on a very low-calorie diet. I'll say it again, this is the type of diet that will not starve you to death and it will give you energy every single day.

Hypothyroid Diet Tips To Help You Lose Weight

Many people who are diagnosed with hypothyroidism have difficulty losing weight, and are interested in finding the ideal "hypothyroid diet" to help shed those unwanted pounds. What they often times find is that modifying their diet and exercising regularly doesn't help them to lose weight. Since the thyroid controls metabolism, one can understand how it can be a challenge to lose weight with a hypothyroid condition, as this slows down the metabolism. However, losing weight will be a much easier process if you follow some of the tips I'm about to give.

In addition to following the hypothyroid diet tips I'm about to give, as well as exercising regularly, there is another big factor that will determine whether or not you will be successful in your weight loss efforts. So while you definitely need to pay attention to the following tips I'm about to give you, keep in mind that no matter how well you eat or how much you exercise, you won't lose weight without following the final "Bonus Tip" I'll be revealing at the end of this article.

Hypothyroid

With that being said, let's take a look at the three tips:

Hypothyroid Diet Tips To Help You Lose Weight

Hypothyroid Diet Tip #1: Cut Out Refined Foods And Sugars. The first thing you want to do is to minimize or completely eliminate the refined foods and sugars from your diet. Eating refined foods and sugars will spike up your blood sugar levels, which in turn will cause a surge in insulin to bring these levels down. The blood sugar levels will then drop down low, which in turn will cause the adrenal glands to release cortisol. Eating this way constantly will put stress on your endocrine system, especially your adrenal glands, which can lead to numerous problems, which I'll discuss shortly.

Hypothyroid Diet Tip #2: Don't Skip Breakfast. This is another common problem, as many people don't eat anything for breakfast, which isn't a good thing after you've gone eight or more hours without eating. If you find that you're not hungry upon waking up in the morning, the reason is because your endocrine system is not in balance. And while I'm not suggesting you need to eat a huge breakfast every morning, you really do need to begin eating something healthy on a daily basis, even if it's a small meal. Just make sure it consists of some high quality protein.

Hypothyroid Diet Tip #3: Eat Every 2 to 3 Hours Thereafter. After you eat breakfast, eating every two to three hours thereafter will help to keep your blood sugar levels balanced, which as you'll learn shortly, will help in your efforts to lose weight. Not eating regularly will once again affect the hormone cortisol, as when you go a long time without eating, your blood sugar levels will drop, and the adrenal glands will then secrete cortisol. If this happens daily over a period of many months and years, then this will stress out your adrenal glands.

How To Make Sure These Hypothyroid Diet Tips Work For You

Now that you have read these hypothyroid diet tips, I'm about to reveal the primary "bonus" tip that will make you understand why most people with hypothyroidism have difficulty losing weight. Here it is: the main reason why people with hypothyroidism have problems losing weight is due to an uncorrected hormonal imbalance. As Dr. Janet Lang tells her attendees during her Restorative Endocrinology Seminars, "hormones are stronger than diet", which means that changing your dietary habits alone won't allow you to lose weight if you don't address an existing hormone imbalance.

There are actually two hormonal conditions that will make it almost impossible for anyone with a hypothyroid condition to lose weight. These two conditions are:

• Estrogen Dominance. Many people with hypothyroidism are in a state of estrogen dominance, which relates to the ratio of estrogen and progesterone. While the wording suggests an excess of estrogen, this isn't always the case, as frequently this is caused by a deficiency in progesterone. In either situation, the estrogen dominance will usually result in weight gain, and losing weight will be extremely difficult, if not impossible to achieve, unless the estrogen dominance is corrected.

• Insulin Resistance. This is another common condition among people with thyroid conditions, and frequently has to do with poor eating habits, as eating a lot of refined foods and sugars, skipping meals, etc. will cause problems with the hormones insulin and cortisol, and very well might lead to this condition if you continue to eat this way. So essentially following the hypothyroid diet tips I gave above will help to prevent this condition from developing.

If you have either of the above conditions and don't address them, then no hypothyroid diet will make much of a difference. Actually, this isn't entirely true, as modifying one's diet will help to some extent, especially with regards to insulin resistance. However, there are other factors involved, especially with estrogen dominance, and so just eating well and taking nutritional supplements alone usually won't correct this hormone imbalance. This is why it's a good idea to consult with a competent natural endocrine doctor, who will recommend a natural hypothyroid treatment protocol that not only can help you lose weight, but just might help restore your health to normal.

The reason for this is because natural hypothyroid treatment methods address the actual cause of the thyroid condition. Although most endocrinologists and other doctors aim their treatment directly towards the thyroid gland, and usually recommend that someone with hypothyroidism take thyroid hormone for the rest of their life, in most cases the malfunctioning thyroid gland isn't the actual cause of the disorder. So for those who have a condition such as estrogen dominance, taking thyroid hormone won't do anything to correct his, which means that the person will continue to gain weight, plus most likely will have other symptoms related to this condition. This doesn't mean that taking thyroid hormone won't help at all with weight loss, as if the sole cause of your weight gain is due to the thyroid gland then it might help. But if estrogen dominance is the primary reason for your weight gain, then taking thyroid hormone isn't going to fix this problem.

In summary, if you have hypothyroidism and are having difficulty losing weight, then in addition to following the hypothyroid diet tips I listed above, you also might want to consider consulting with a natural endocrine doctor to help diagnose and address any hormonal imbalances you may have. In addition to helping you lose weight and correcting any hormone imbalances, being on such a protocol also can potentially restore the function of your thyroid gland back to normal, which means you wouldn't need to take synthetic or natural thyroid hormone daily for the rest of your life.
